Fashion's Newest It Girl-Supermodel Joan Smalls

Supermodel Joan Smalls has been one to watch in the fashion industry for quite some time now. She first began her career, when she left her family's home in her homeland of Puerto Rico, to move in with her aunt in Queens. It was then that she was signed with Elite Model Management. Her modeling career really took off, however, when she was exclusively chosen to walk in the Givenchy Spring 2010 couture show. Ever since then, her career has been on fire, with her walking the runway for fashion bigwigs such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Stella McCartney, and Alexander Wang, just to name a few. Joan has also became the face of both the Gucci and David Yurman campaign as well as a Victoria's Secret runway model, a regular at New York and Milan Fashion week, and a VOGUE cover girl for British VOGUE and Japanese VOGUE and as of late, the March 2012 covergirl for VOGUE Italia. Her newest cover, however is, VOGUE Australia. In the mag, she is looking very spring-ready with all of her colorful gear.
She is definitely one to watch in this industry and someone I hope to interview one day for OldVintage. Sound off in the comment section and let me know what you think about supermodel Joan Smalls and the Spring Ready looks in VOGUE Australia.

New Nail Trend!!

So, today I was browsing the internet and I ran across a picture of the newest nail trend to hit the shops-the border/outline manicure. This trend has a thin contrasting line that is painted around the edges of the nail. In order to create this look, you will need to have two contrasting colors, such as the black and white design above, in order to make the border around the nails stand out. I think this design is very cute and I would definitely rock it! What about you? Sound off in the comments...pictures via Necole Bitchie, Beaut.ie, and Haute Lacquer.

Bohemian Chic!

Today, I decided to try a girlie, bohemian look. I wore a black, off-the-shouder, cut-off shirt, a long, black skirt, black sandals, a dark gray beanie (as seen in the Mixed Metals Love post), and a turquiose and silver spiked and balled set of hoop earrings. This outfit is perfect for a nice warm day and is very simple to put together. I added a little twist to mine with the spiked earrings (they totally made the outfit). What would be your twist? Sound off in the comment section and let me know what your bohemian chic outfit would be...Shirt-Victoria's Secret, Skirt-Max Studio (via TJ Maxx), Sandals-Gianni Bini, Earrings-Vintage Find.

Makeup Trends for Spring-Lip Color

Spring is finally here and this year, it's ALL about color...not just in clothes but also with makeup. For this particular season, its all about the POW lip color! Whether you go with a signature, sexy red lip, a pouty, pink lip, or decide to try something new like a purple lip (such as actress Regina Hall, seen above) or a blazing blue lip (as seen on singer Ashanti in her newest video), it's all about being fierce, fly, and fashionably fabulous- makeup included. So sound off in the comment section below and let me know YOUR signature Spring lip color. (P.S., mine is my go-to Red lipstick.:))...Pictures of Ashanti, Regina Hall, and Rihanna were found via Internet.

Is Natural the New It Thing to Do??

For years now, there has seem to be a natural hair movement in the African-American community with many women transitioning from relaxed hair to au natural. I, myself, have even considered doing the 'big chop' (that's another story for another post). It has become such a factor, with celebrities such as the Oscar-nominated Viola Davis wearing her natural hair on the red carpet, that even the mainstream fashion world has taken notice. According to Vogue Italia, natural hair is all the rage now. Many designers are now wanting their models to rock their natural hair out on the catwalk and you best believe there are models that are more than happy to oblige. Above are two examples of Natural girls rocking a photoshoot and rocking the catwalk. Enjoy and sound off, is natural hair the new it feature?...Pictures via Necole Bitchie via Vogue Italia.

Mixing Metals Love!

Last night, I discovered a new fashion blog that I'm absolutely in love with,www.wheredidugetthat.com.its the absolute best!As I was looking at pictures of the blogger Karen Blanchard, I saw this one outfit that gave me inspiration for my outfit I wore today. She was wearing a long-sleeve gray dress, a dark gray fedora hat, and here's what truly made the outfit:bright orange Chuck Taylor All Stars and a Neon yellow necklace. Her idea was to mix pastels which totally worked. I, on the other hand, decided to mix metals instead. For this outfit, I have on a sleeveless, long, light gray jersey dress, a dark gray light-weight cardigan, a leapard-print cowl-neck scarf, gold flats, gold blacelets, gold and bronze ring, gold posts earrings, and a dark gray beanie. Fabulous outfit, I felt so cute today!:)...let me know what you guys think.
